About

Step Back in Time for a Summer of Medieval Fun at Bodiam Castle,
19 July – 31 August.

This summer, bring the whole family to Bodiam Castle for a day of imaginative play and medieval-inspired adventure. Set against the dramatic backdrop of one of England's most iconic castles, our Summer of Play invites children (and grown-ups!) to step into the past and enjoy a wide range of hands-on activities.

Take centre stage with dressing up and roleplay, test your aim with have-a-go archery, or learn the playful skills of a medieval jester with juggling and balancing games. The fun continues with hobby horses, quoits, sand play, dancing ribbons, dragon bean bag throwing, and even the chance to build your own castle. For those who love a challenge, try leaping over straw bale hurdles or inventing your own games in the open space.

Whether you're exploring the grounds, enjoying a picnic, or simply soaking up the atmosphere, there's something for everyone to enjoy. It's a perfect way to spend a summer's day outdoors, surrounded by history, nature, and creativity.

Summer of Play is proudly supported by Starling Bank.

Summer of Play offers fun for all ages, with most games and activities ideal for families with children aged 5 to 11. Some activities, such as soft-play archery, are better suited for children aged 8 to 15.
