This historic castle was built by Henry VIII. What remains today is an unaltered artillery fort designed to guard the port of Rye. Camber Castle lies between the beautiful coastal town of Rye and Winchelsea. 

There is only footpath access to the castle ruins - a one-mile walk on footpaths from Rye, the exterior is viewable at any time and is free to enter.

The area is is rich in natural habitat and you can walk from the many Rye Harbour Nature Reserve footpath. If you choose the nature walks please be mindful of wildlife - there are designated hides for watching birds without disturbing them.
