About
Bishopstone Station's newly restored Platform Waiting Room is fast becoming a highlight for eco‑tourism along the Ouse Estuary. Transformed by Friends of Bishopstone Station (FOBS), the once‑unused space now hosts a permanent exhibition celebrating the estuary's wildlife, landscape, and coastal heritage. Since opening in June, it has welcomed walkers, cyclists, and visitors exploring the shoreline between Newhaven, Tide Mills, and Bishopstone.
Created by local artist Andrew Dandridge and historian Charlie Grimble, the exhibition offers an engaging look at the estuary's past and present—from Tide Mills and the wartime Seaplane Station to the evolution of Bishopstone Station itself. Many visitors describe the Waiting Room as a refreshing gateway to understanding the natural environment they're walking through.
With refreshments, homemade cakes, and souvenirs available in the main station building, Bishopstone Station is now firmly on the map as a friendly, informative stop for anyone discovering the Ouse Estuary's unique coastal landscape.
