About

Merriments Gardens in Hurst Green is a beautifully designed four-acre garden offering a rich and ever-changing landscape to explore throughout the year. With a mix of formal planting, natural meadow areas and a peaceful woodland walk, it's a place where every visit reveals something new.

Wander through carefully curated borders, ornamental arches and layered planting schemes filled with a wide variety of flowers and shrubs.

Seasonal highlights include iris, clematis, poppies and herbs, alongside an evolving mix of plantings that ensure colour and interest in every corner of the gardens.

Tranquil water features run throughout the site, including a charming Monet-style bridge and gently flowing streams that enhance the calm, immersive atmosphere. Seating is thoughtfully placed across the gardens, offering quiet moments to pause, relax and take in the views.

Nature and wildlife are at the heart of the experience, with bee hives nestled in the meadow and a bird hide providing the chance to observe native species in their natural surroundings.

After exploring, visitors can unwind at The Conservatory café, a welcoming space serving freshly prepared breakfasts and lunches, hot and cold drinks, homemade cakes, afternoon tea and a selection of drinks including garden-inspired gin. With a play area for young children located behind the cafe.

Conveniently located near Hurst Green and easily accessible from the A21, Merriments is a peaceful countryside escape with excellent facilities. The gardens are family-run and have been thoughtfully enhanced in recent years to improve the visitor experience, including upgraded café and seating areas.

Admission is £8 for adults, with free entry for children under 15. Dogs are welcome throughout the gardens and café, and wheelchair-friendly paths ensure the site is accessible and enjoyable for all visitors.
